Annah-Elizabeth Ejiwunmi (Biochemistry) and Sem Kohyrelon (Physics) are final-year students at the University of Warwick. They found themselves in competitive internships almost by accident, and were immediately struck by how much success depended on networks and prior exposure rather than ability.

Coming from the West Midlands, the concentration of early-career success around a small group of Russell Group institutions felt impossible to ignore. Opportunities in life sciences were not being shared equally, they were passed around through personal networks that most students simply did not have access to.
